Specification of Ben Bennett Junior´s latest Volvo FH leaves ‘No Stone Unturned´

Ben Bennett Jr., has taken delivery of a Volvo FH 6×2 tractor unit for national deliveries of limestone filler/granules from its Grange Mill quarry in Derbyshire.

Supplied by Crossroads Truck & Bus, Rotherham, the specification of the new 500hp flagship truck leaves no stone unturned.
Transport Manager Steve Woolliscroft says: “The driver of this particular truck always keeps his vehicles in immaculate condition, so when it came to replacing his old Volvo FH we wanted to do something a bit special.”

To this end; Crossroads Truck and Bus at Rotherham went the extra mile with Steve and added aluminium side skirts and a built-in toolbox. The truck then received the full colour-coding treatment and paintwork from Ultimate’s workshop in Wath-upon-Dearne. Alcoa Dura-Bright wheels, stainless steel mirror backings and light bars from ‘Spot On’ in Newcastle-Under-Lyme finish off the exterior.

“We’ve kept with textile seats as the quarry is a pretty dusty environment so we prefer this option with seat covers that can be washed rather than going for leather upholstery,” says Steve.

In regular use the new Volvo FH tractor unit is coupled to a Feldbinder powder tanker and transports either limestone filler or granules to customers producing an array of products such as sheet and bottled glass, pharmaceuticals, roofing felt, noise suppressants and even carpet backing. “We also supply the agricultural sector,” says Steve.
