Millers delighted to extend long-standing Ben Bennett association

Rotherham United have extended the Club partnership with long standing affiliates Ben Bennett until the end of the 2020/21 season.

The Rotherham-based company have held the Family East Stand sponsorship at the AESSEAL New York Stadium since the facility opened in 2012, and as part of the new agreement the Ben Bennett name and logo will remain for the next four years.

A family run steel strip manufacturing business which started back in 1883, the company has spanned six generations of the Bennett family and during that time they have held a close association to their local team.

Mr. Bennett, who has been a fan of the Club since his first game back in 1950, was again thrilled to extend his association for a minimum of a further four years.

“I said to my wife when I met her in 1960 that if she wanted to see me on a Saturday, she'd have to support Rotherham United and she has ever since,” he told www.themillers.co.uk

“Our children are all Rotherham United supporters and we've got a great granddaughter who also came to her first match recently. The whole family are involved and always have been and we'll support the Club for the rest of our lives.

“We're delighted to be continuing our affiliation and, whilst we've been relegated this season, we're still immensely proud of what the Club has achieved in recent years and to have this wonderful stadium here in Rotherham is just fantastic.

“We're really happy to have our family name continue to be displayed at what is a truly marvellous ground here at AESSEAL New York Stadium.”

The deal was again heralded by the Club’s head of commercial Mark Hitchens who said he was looking forward to many more years of working with the Bennett family.

“It is rare in football to have such a partnership like the one we enjoy with Ben Bennett and his family,” said Hitchens.

“I have personally enjoyed over 10 years working with the Bennett family, but their association with this football club goes back decades before my time here.

“Their love for the Millers is as strong now as it was back in the 1950s when Mr. Bennett attended his first Rotherham United match. They really do love their football, and have become part of the fabric of this Club.

“I am looking forward to many more years working alongside Mr and Mrs Bennett, and I know they are already looking forward to next season as we look to bounce back again.

“Mr and Mrs Bennett and their family are all keen supporters of the Club and their enthusiasm for Rotherham United is as strong as ever. It will be a pleasure to host them in the lounge for many years to come.”

Commercial Director Steve Coakley added:

“Ben Bennett is the perfect fit for the name of our family stand with their support of their local Club currently standing at four generations.

“It has been an ever-present fixture over the East Stand since we moved here, and has become synonymous with Rotherham United over years.

“Like everyone at the Club I am looking forward to many future years working alongside Mr. Bennett and his family."
